Course Duration: | The course consists of classroom delivery of 8 hours scheduled between of 8am and 6pm. Students must participate in an additional 10 hours of self-paced learning & assessment prior to the classroom program. |
Description: | This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings.

Assessment: | Upon enrolment, students will receive the Learner Guide and Self-Paced Assessment Booklet. Self-paced learning consists of reading the Learner Guides and completing the self-paced assessment questions. Students complete the Self-Paced Assessment Booklet in their own time prior to commencement of the classroom training. Students bring the Learner Guide and Assessment Booklet to the classroom session or they can submit the self-paced assessment within 14 days following the scheduled classroom program.

Skills must be demonstrated:
• working individually
• in an environment that provides realistic in-depth, industry-validated scenarios and simulations to enable assessment of candidates’ skills and knowledge.
Simulated assessment environments will simulate the real-life working environment where these skills and knowledge would be performed, with all the relevant equipment and resources of that working environment.
Connect People Training engages in best-practice assessment and applies evidence gathering using verbal, written questions and observation of participation in classroom discussion and activities.

Entry Requirements: | This course is suitable to anyone wishing to gain skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty.
Students must have the physical capability to perform at least four minutes of uninterrupted CPR on both an adult and an infant resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
The Oral communication – in order to make an accurate verbal report to emergency response services and workplace supervisor.
